Reflections on the “Just Cause” inspiring Creators Float, and the type of impact we’d like to see this organization have as founding members. If you’d like to read more inspirations, consider applying to join our Discord Server.
I am currently reading “The Infinite Game” by Simon Sinek when I find some free time. Lately, when I want some space to inspire my thoughts and wander away from the minutia and onto the bigger picture, this is the book that helps me do so. The reason I believe in Creators Float, even as I struggle to find time and energy to help it grow, is because the mindset behind it is infinite.
We are fueled by the Just Cause of curating a space that fosters creativity and collaboration. Our mission will not be solved by the people seeing this message in real-time. We are only starting to build a tangible form of inspiration that seeks to ripple through generations. Creators Float is a gift to my family, to my baby niece turning one in August, to the children of dear friends and their children’s children. It’s a gift you are all helping give, and I only hope to help you receive some beautiful moments of return for this infinite kindness you are bestowing.
This project started with a simple observation that artists are not getting paid their true value. As a contributor to MakerDAO, I began to realize the vast variety of Web3 tools available to incentivize participation and launch projects with little to no capital upfront. Better yet, these tools enable true peer-to-peer (P2P) interactions, where community members can work together for mutual benefit without a founder like me taking a piece of the action.
By giving value to community members, and using that value to harness real-world creation, we are giving back to communities all over the world. We are finding that when a group of dedicated people comes together the sum of the whole is far greater than the sum of its parts. So far we are funding printmakers, digital artists, musicians, poets, and researchers, but the goal of this community is to inspire creatives and provide resources no matter what medium they use to express their creativity.
In the future, I want to see beautiful works of architecture right next to inspiring advancements in technology on our home page. By starting small and thinking big, we are setting up a mission that can be passed down through generations and is hopefully appealing to anyone willing to dive into it.
So what are you waiting for? Doesn’t the world deserve a bit more of your creations?
